🧵 (1/n) It's important to point out today that the #Cardano #Testnet is **catastrophically** broken due to a bug in Cardano Node v 1.35.2. This was the version that we had previously been told was "Tested and Ready" for the Vasil Hardfork. This bug was only discovered...

Like many of you, I don’t have the most technical mind when it comes to crypto. I would love any one technical with #Cardano to come on the channel for a few minutes today to discuss what’s going on with #Vasil

Some big Cardano news as Cardano experiences some testnet difficulties. There will likely be many crypto headlines focusing on Cardano and ADA with this development. But how bad is it and what does this mean for Cardano, ADA, and the Vasil hardfork?

I’m receiving comments & just now an email about how much “harm” I have done to #Cardano because I interviewed two stake pool operators on my channel.

If this informational & educational interview did actual “harm”, then Cardano is destined to fail!

In a thread of tweets a few hours ago, Adam Dean, a top Cardano developer, revealed that the testnet is catastrophically broken due to a fresh bug discovered in Cardano Node v1.35.2, the version that was said to have been tested and ready for the much-awaited Vasil hardfork.

To me... when somebody uses "catastrophic" it's to create effect. This FUD was meant to be spread. A perfect crypto media headline.

Not sure how it helped anything. We did agree in the SPO call that another dev-net was going to be spun up and people seemed happy about it.

(1/n) Ok, lets bring some things up that might explain to others why some Dev/SPOs are currently a bit unhappy. First, we all are humans and devs are the hidden heroes of our ecosystem, so thank you for your work! 🙏
It started with a shortlived Vasily-QA Testchain and a special

We had an SPO call with 230 SPOs to answer questions.

As CH said... what was accomplished on Twitter/Youtube that wasn't going to be accomplished through the SPOs calls and channels?

Great engagement farming and playing the victim. Thanks for all the fish.

1/13 Though I have a small number of followers, as a member of the community, I feel the need to comment on the Vasil situation. I would first like to begin by I respect IOG, @IOHK_Charles and the entire SPO community massively. These are my honest thoughts.

Dude,
@cryptorecruitr asked who would be up to talk about what the community concerns, I told him @adamKDean and @amw7 were knowledgeable on the situation.

You seriously are out of line, get yourself together Charles. This is embarrassing, worse than what the haters have said.

I agree with this.

There are many positive aspects to this event: 1) proven decentralization; 2) passtionate community; 3) the understanding that we must communicate better.

Dear @IOHK_Charles,

Do not take our open discussions of concerns as FUD. WE want to see #Cardano succeed as much as you do. WE want the Vasil hard fork as much as you do.

This is NOT about you. Its about US, the #Cardano Ecosystem you have built.

Top Cardano developer Adam Dean recently tweeted that the testnet is “catastrophically broken”. This development came after the blockchain protocol discovered a bug in the system.

Vasil Upgrade (Node Version 1.35.3)

#Cardanistas just minted the 1st block using node version 1.35.3!

Besides the producer node, one relay is also in the new version, and the other two in the 1.34.1, confirming: the communication bug between different versions has been fixed.

Don't let the FUD in!

Come #Vasil!🔥

If my post today scared you... Good. Ask your #Cardano #SPO if they are testing on #testnet. Ask your favorite #dApp if they're testing on testnet. We have an amazing #community and @InputOutputHK as core developers are not immune to developer blindness...

The feedback loop is getting better. Thank you Ben.

Regarding the poor communication - as a developer, not an SPO; nobody told me testnet was broken, I had to find out for myself and wonder why our transactions weren't working. Nobody has had any idea when the Vasil rollout was coming, until Charles randomly says "go!"

Thank you. You are great and I appreciate your hard work. Just suggesting that having private check-in calls with SPOs x, y, z days leading up to anticipated event could avoid worries and concerns and ultimately, avoid extra work for you. Like checking vitals before surgery :).

Now that I've had some time to reflect on the last 48 hours, I'd like to say a few things. First, the backbone of Cardano as a useful protocol is the SPO community. It's been a rough road for everyone over the last few years given that the infrastructure needs and experiences (1/

For me what emerged out of this is the lack of recovery software. We are happy all works well, but an unexpected behaviour of the chain (as was the case with 1.35.2) could trigger some serious troubles without a way to address the issue rapidly.

The fix in 1.35.3 is successful and confirmed by many other SPOs that helped test. Looking good for #VasilHardFork @adamKDean @conraddit @HolgerCardano24 @AncientKraken is a rockstar for crafting this devilish test transaction.

I think I properly reproduced the bug that was in 1.35.2 that caused issues for testnet on the spo dev net going on right now. As of now, it does seem like 1.34.1 and 1.35.3 behave as expected in terms of smart contract usage. Everything is looking good. #cardano #VasilHardFork

Hi Rick; Adam and Andrew had special channels as SPO's. they could report that "catastrophic" test net bug. but they directly gone public instead of that. So did they ever try to report and couldn't get answers then go to public? NO
I'm agree why Charles got angry about that

Why wasn't this discussed in the appropriate channels? Most of the community is not technical competent enough to understand these issues anyway, so why should their input matter? They can only talk about price and TVL and that stuff. They are no experts on the coding side.

It’s great to see this but Charles, with all due respect, some of the responses you made were hard to stomach. As a global ambassador for the crypto community, we need you to be the grownup in the room at all times. Hopefully this was a learning moment for everyone

The best thing to rescue of all this is that the community had a problem and worked out as such. Community & Decentralization successfully tested.

What you need to know:
testnet was bugged but new testnet allready purring away. mainnet 100% uptime. Vasil is and has NEVER been long delayed, first date was june 29th. Delay is only 8 weeks!!!!
that's all folks! #cardano
