Wrapped up the first cohort of my @MavenHQ course on startup brand strategy on Friday. What a whirlwind. 2 weeks. 25 founders (36% women!). 7 workshops. 4 office hours. Excited for a few days off now, but sharing some lessons learned & feedback that made it all worth it first. 🧵

Yeah, Li’s course is a perfect example of where CBCs excel. Namely, she studies a fast-changing sector of the economy that’s widely misunderstood. And her personal OODA loop, which she distills into her curriculum, is faster than any institution‘s ability to keep up.
Last week I graduated from one of the most stretching experiences in my life. Alongside 50 others, I finished a 6-week learning sprint taught by Maven on how to build and ship a cohort-based course. 🎓
From Day 1, I was impressed right out of the gate:
- group workshops were challenging and stimulating
- video lessons were informative and template-based
- instructors came from all industries and backgrounds
The rest of the program was focused on drawing out the topic we'd like to teach into a choevisve student journey for the community we're focused on helping.
We got to learn from guests speakers (like David Perell and Dickie Bush), steal their favourite templates and catch up with other peers in the class to hear how they were processing the material.
It was inspiring to hear how people with PhDs and 30+ years of experience we're refining their lessons to make it easy to learn and apply for their students.
To top it off, we all got sent these surprise packages (HD video camera, yeti mic etc) on the last week to give us some inspiration to get started on the class. 🎁
Maven, I've been wildly impressed by the platform your team's building and I can't wait to launch my course and recommend other friends to check out the waves you're making.

You should take a cohort-based online course.
It's an amazing way to meet new people, learn, and get a sense of what's possible.
