"I drink your milkshake."
-Daniel Plainview on Cardano's EVM sidechain.

Cardano now has their own Alpha #EVM sidechain and @Milkomeda_com. Two EVMs that are faster/cheaper than $ETH. With their/your sidechains, you can essentially run Proof of Stake with bitcoin level security.

This is a big deal! Bringing comprehensive EVM support will allow #Cardano to continue to attract new users and development and will show our ecosystem as the robust, secure, but open team player that it is. The more development choice, the better. πŸ‘

Normally I won't shill Cardano for fear of being burnt alive. But when this releases in 3-15 years after 3 rounds of peer review, it's going to be pretty cool. I still have a heap of Cardano, maybe I'll launch something cool on the EVM Sidechain.

The future of #crypto is interoperable!

That's why #cardano is offering side chains.

Check out the #EVM sidechain alpha!

Welcome #Ethereum devs to #Cardano

Cardano OGs from '18 Era --
How many AMAs did we hear about the EVM Integration...? Looks closer to reality.
I still think Cardano Native projects is where true growth is found-- but porting over from EVM land is net positive.

Cardano releases new EVM sidechain to ETH devs to begin building on Cardano @IOHK_Charles @etherscan @VitalikButerin

With Milkomeda, EVM sidechain is connected to Cardano indirectly through Milkomeda sidechain. And with Mamba, it's connected directly to Cardano.

Besides the bridges may utilize different settlement solutions. For example, Milkomeda uses an optimistic bridge from Nomad.

Right, but assuming Milkomeda and the new Mamba/EVM thing from IOG also run on Cardano under the hood... Why not? If they don't and are actually just different chains entirely... That should also be known

Why did IOG feel the need to do that when @Milkomeda_com already exists? Seems like a waste of money & time.

This is what I mean when I say that everyone is just building the same things instead of building good products for everyday people.

Maybe I'm missing something though

We started Mamba way before Milkomeda was an idea on a paper. They even considered using it.

We repurposed our Ethereum Classic client & (Scala) team to build the first OBFT EVM sidechain to #Cardano.

We are focusing on building the most secure and trustless PoS bridge to date.

It’s the opposite. Milkomeda will be a L2. The IOG sidechain is the one that won’t be secured by Cardano

The EVM sidechain will be key in expanding the adoption of #Cardano.

Can we have a proper sidechain debate between IOG and dcSpark? I feel like it would be the best way to educate the Cardano audience.

This is materially false. Mamba will be secured by quorum sampling the stake pool operators to populate its OBFT protocol. This is directly borrowing security from ouroboros.

Quorum sampling does not give you shared security. Sidechains do not inherit security of the L1 and so it's is objectively weaker and separate security. The fact Mamba could suffer a failure leading to a 51% attack while the main chain lives on is an easy proof of this

And so the EVM side
chain war started.

Ha.. amazing!! two EVM compatible chains in Cardano... I can not find any more bullish thing that a fair competition ! Suddenly everybody wants Solidity on Cardano... jaja I just can not be happier!

When Cardano starts emulating down to Ethereum VM, lol watch out. Hey! How come EVM on Cardano works better than EVM for EVM?

If I understood it correctly, the eligibility to write a new block on the sidechain is still dictated by Ouroboros running on Cardano's L1. How can one perform a 51% attack on the sidechain without performing a 51% attack on Cardano?

There is a concept called β€œEnshrined Rollups” and I naively hypothesize that as a potential approach for implementing an EVM env (or other VMs like Solana’s) on base layer. However, DA woes of Cardano might hinder that.

Serious question, if we can run an EVM side chain for #Cardano... Why can't we just run EVM at the base layer? @SebastienGllmt @IOHK_Charles

Generically speaking, there is no different at a technical level between a blockchain and a sidechain. It's a purely human distinction

EVM sidechain when it hits main net will be just one of many game changers. Hi eth hello CARDANO

Evm side chain makes it easy for devs used the current most popular model while taking advantage of the security given by the cardano model , when you see the benefits of eUTXO it's a no brainer

smart contracts also need the notion of ledger and blockchain state. So language can be any Turing complete but how contract is organized changes
I am exploring writing in Coq and extract it to Cardano & Ergo
But if its EVM & accounts based then your execution engine changes

You can't use optimistic rollups as-is as Cardano's L1 can't run EVM fraud proofs since it's not EVM-bassed. That's why for Milkomeda we had to come up with a separate kind of rollup.

ZK rollup is possible, but Cardano has no good DA so Validiums is the only realistic option

Now with Solidity applications developed on #Cardano and passed to #Ethereum via EVM or apps migration to Cardano! Well done, @IOHKMedia !!! 🀩
