I wish news sites would just let me pay a nominal fee per article instead of forcing me into a subscription scheme. I don't mind paying for what I read. I just don't want to subscribe to your site for monthly billing.
I am once again asking for news orgs to let me have a pay per article option. I will do it. I don't want a subscription. Just let me pay per article.
I'm all for paying for news. But platforms need to allow us to pay once for a specific piece of content & not a monthly subscription.
I don't want to sub to @straits_times or @thetimes, I'm not interested in S'pore or UK news. But I want to read @rohitdbrijnath and @Athersmike
I think many people would be willing to pay that much if they could do it with less friction. I certainly would, if I could pay per article instead of having to sign up for a subscription.
You know, we used to be able to drop, like, a quarter or whatever in a newspaper box on the sidewalk if we were just dying to read what was behind the headline. Why can we not have a version of that online already, click 'n' pay per article?
It shocks me there isn't a quick-and-easy 10 second payment processing system for outlets to charge per article. I don't necessarily want a subscription for a random paper in wherever. But would gladly pay a buck for the article if it just took a quick click!
Why can't we just pay per article?
Just charge 50¢ to read one article, satisfy my commitment phobia & I bet I'll end up spending more than sub costs anyway.
Can someone who understands newspapers and magazines explain to me why there is no "pay per article" model? Like, I am NEVER going to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. But I would happily pay $2 to read one article once a year. It is the most infuriating thing!
I do not understand why newspapers in the digital age haven’t adopted a pay-per-story model as an option. I’m not going to subscribe just to read one article that goes viral - but I might pay 25 or even 50 cents. Seems like a huge untapped revenue stream. 🤷🏼♂️
Why doesn't every single newspaper have a service where you can pay per article?! There is an article I want to read from a certain paper but I can't afford to subscribe to all papers.
Can someone with insight explain why pay-per-article, alongside subscriptions, hasn't been taken up? I want to pay for news, I subscribe to a couple of titles, but I can't subscribe to everything. I would have paid, say a dollar, for several paywalled articles this week.
Can someone tell me what complexities I’m overlooking that prevents the existence of a pay-by-the-article service where I pay like $1 per news article I want to read without having to subscribe to each outlet individually?
