One of the best things about Cardano is while others are stepping down, the the Cardano community is stepping up.
It would have been all too easy for those behind @cNFTcon and @RareBloomEvent to claim “bear market” and postpone, but they didn’t.

The Age of Voltaire will soon be upon us as an ecosystem. It's going to unlock the power of the millions of Cardano users and builders. It will also, once again, show the rest of the industry how to do decentralized governance just like we did with Staking.

With all respect to IOHK, I'm tired of them pretending they're not presently steering the Cardano ship.
I get they probably need to do it for legal reasons, but it's beyond silly at some points in time, when they pretend they're just basically another user with no real power.

It would be a real tragedy if everything good about Cardano was destroyed by the idiocy of the masses through Voltaire. Democracy is an important tool for decentralization but it certainly doesn’t guarantee anything good. I hope Voltaire has some good checks and balances.
Voltaire is both a great challenge to and for the #Cardano community, but also its greatest asset if we get it right and commit ourselves to evidence based and fair decision making. Stumble as we might uphill, if our goals and values are solid we should be able to come out ahead.
I don’t think they are pretending. I don’t think @IOHK_Charles would claim not to be either.
The tech foundations of Cardano require an academic approach. IOHK are fulfilling a contract to deliver a chunk….
Be careful in what you wish for if you want the community to decide
I agree, which is why it's so frustrating that IOHK, Charles, etc pretend they're not in full control. I don't think we have anywhere near governance necessary for us to be independent, and downplaying their influence makes people think we're closer to the end than we really are
I have done some wild speculation about this. My theory is it will be a separate legal entity from any of the above. It will be its own thing and I think run by committees. anerdonawire.com/cardano/cataly…

What is the Cardano MBO? Is it a replacement for the Foundation? Is the Foundation supporting it? Or is it an IOG-led endeavour?
>Keys to Success
Cardano will need a decen. MBO, a Declaration of Independence to keep the egalitarian,
decentralization vision, a well researched rewards equation, and Constitution with high >=2/3rds vote threshold.
This should be done with urgency before the vision is lost.
The Cardano Members Based Organization (MBO) may be announced at the 2022 Cardano Summit!
So, who should control the MBO?👇
Hey #CardanoCommunity we have to boost governance on #Cardano Voltaire Era.
Take a a look at this CIP - Cardano Members Based Organization, MBO, by @DrLiesenfelt
It's not about what Cardano can do for us, it's about what can we do for Cardano.

As an academic, I imagine a structure similar to a global technical professional society with independent decentralized sub-divisions, committees, summits/meetings, community events/outreach, standards bodies, and professional networking. My hope for a Members Based Organization (MBO) is that such a powerful organization would always be a decentralized community organization.

Since Charles did the video about the Cardano roadmap and Governance 1 4 months ago, we can hear more and more short format channel mentions about “members-based organization” (MBO) in Cardano Community but rarely see long format discussions about it, so why not start some?

#ADA Lovers / #Holders and #Pool Operators,
how do you find this idea?
CIP - Cardano Members Based Organization

I see great potential here for our #Cardano to grow and we can be part of it.

Let's begin the process! CIP - Cardano Members Based Organization.

>But Governance!
Yes there will be a Cardano Members Based Organization, open and permissionless, maybe many of different variants.
Yes parameters can be updated w/ 4 of 7 signing keys, such as staking reward equations minPoolCost, as a soft fork.
Yes we have the best HFC tech.
Going forward, the specifics are still being discussed but the governance of Catalyst will have three components:
1) a Members Based Organization with authority over the Cardano network parameters
2) a Catalyst Circle cont. its “human sensor-array role but …

you want community led so badly you’re willing to sacrifice the network security. If the answer is no, what assurances do you have that community decisions will ensure security? How’d that Daedalus Turbo vote work out? IOG has taken us this far and are blding MBO - patience
If truly the OP is interested in the growth of Cardano, IOG is working with the community on it. i.e. MBO and so on. We have grown past someone without any source or show any sign of understanding pointing fingers without going through the right channel like CIP.
Is it an echo chamber though? Have these concerns not been brought up? Have there not been discussions and clear paths to more decentralization proposed? CF and IOG working on forming a MBO and a clear path to Voltaire governance.
This, decentralized governance is politics and game theory, exaggerated by internet and social media echo chambers.
It’s gonna be interesting to see how Voltaire covers the game theory part. How MBO will really work and if the scientific method will play a part in the process
This is not a fare statement.
We can clearly see IOG and Charles wanting to improve decentralization of Cardano by introducing MBO, conducting decentralization index research, and placing a clear roadmap for Voltaire.

Let's wait and see what is announced at the Cardano Summit! I think IOG/CF is moving in the right direction. Ideally we join a CF MBO instead of catalyzing an independent grassroots leadership.
We aren't in charge of setting system parameters. The entire point of an MBO and Voltaire is to hand this structure over to the community and let them decide how they want to regulate Cardano. The system is stable, but sub-optimal at the moment.
But interestingly, there are also the plans for the Voltaire era, the acknowledgement that there has to be some form of governance, which seems to be quite unique among the cryptos.
If a #blockchain project is to evolve and remain innovative, it needs functioning governance in the first place. The community must decide the future, not the team. #Cardano will be in the hands of the community once the Voltaire era is done.
I truly believe Catalyst and soon Voltaire will be the most revolutionary/transformative social experiment ever. If we get a critical mass of participation anything is possible. If we don’t participate it could be overtaken by bad actors and cardano could fail. Your choice.
