On Deck #ChiefofStaff Fellowship has been one of the highest ROI moves I have made for myself. Professionally, I have been able to contribute and learn more in the last few months than all my years of learning combined. Socially, it is rare to meet such a large group of warm and generous people. Experientially, it is the most thought out, engaging experience I have been part of. For the past month I have been involved in the On Deck Chief of Staff Fellowship (ODCoS). It has been an incredible journey thus far hearing from incredible speakers, getting to know fellows through 1:1s, and have curriculum curated to such an amorphous role. My favorite part has truly behind meeting the incredible people within this cohort, and how everyone is open to offering up their time to lend a helping hand. The highlight of my On Deck experience thus far has been the other fellows I’ve met. For example… I’ve long admired Buffer’s model of transparency and progressive policy. Thanks to OnDeck I’ve been paired up with Buffer’s Chief of Staff (Caro Kopprasch) in a bi-weekly module; and I’ve had the joy of learning from her directly. In talks, we’ve heard from Chiefs of Staff at LinkedIn and Lime. So yea, it’s access to a network Chiefs of Staff that work at organisations I admire and look up to.

The best part of the program for me is connecting with others to learn, problem solve and inspire one another. One of the reasons I was drawn to the program are the mastermind groups where I can bring whatever challenge I have that week and get real time input + lessons from other Chiefs of Staff. I've accepted a year-long Fellowship in On Deck's Chief of Staff Program! I’m so excited!
Though the Chief of Staff role is older than dirt for the military, tech companies have only adopted it in the past 10 years or so, with the role exploding in the past 2 years - That means most of us are figuring out the role as we go. This Fellowship will let me learn from other great industry leaders, as well as contribute to the growing knowledge base about the role.
