I don't normally praise products or services, but @OrbitModel has literally changed my approach to community management. 💖

At Apollo, we've been using @OrbitModel for the past 6 months. Both the product and the people building it are awesome to work with!

Last Saturday, I gave a speech of how orbit-model @OrbitModel and app helps MindSpore AI Community to display the activities of contributors. Almost 70+ Open source developers and investors attended the meet-up and had a first glance of the power of the orbit model.

is my favorite and gives me a lot of joy 💜

In December, I signed up for @OrbitModel after having a short chat with @dzello. Some of the data in there is quite fascinating. As an open-source maintainer for @ohmyzsh, it can be a challenge to really grasp what is happening within the community. 🧵of a few takeaways

I'm reading up on the @OrbitModel for community building and man, it's so intuitive + the orbit/gravity analogy really speaks to this astrophysics nerd! 🤓🪐

just got a demo from @OrbitModel - really excited about what they're building. already looks like a super useful tool for folks building developer communities in the open.

Loving the charts from @OrbitModel

So much ❤️

Community reading list 📚

Here are some of my favorite reads about online community from the past year 👇

@patrickjwoods is one of the most under-the-radar, deep thinkers on community - I always learn from his posts:

The team at @OrbitModel are doing an amazing job, and are creating for #DevRel orgs a single-pane-of-glass to their community. Check them out if you haven't already, and if you want a walkthrough let me know.

for my friends building open source or offering products for developers, take a look at @OrbitModel, a CRM for developer relations

I have a lot of tabs open in @googlechrome today.

But I keep going back to @OrbitModel orbit.love!

Super interesting framework to think about communities github.com/orbit-love/orb…:
- Love is the member's level of engagement
- Reach is the member's sphere of influence
- Gravity is what holds your community together
Highly recommend the read

If you drink a shot every time an open source founder mentions Orbit you are completely wasted 15 minutes into the conversation

I have been playing around with @OrbitModel both the app and the model to track developer activities for @typeform also to track engagement on the recently launched forum community.typeform.com

Happy to share our setup ;)

At @AirbyteHQ, we're big fans of @OrbitModel. If you want to engage a community, you should definitely check them out. Their co-founder @patrickjwoods just published an article about how he keeps track of their investor relationships. A golden nugget. 👉 orbit.love/blog/my-data-c…

A few months back, I was looking at the code-server community on @OrbitModel

I then went to the member directory to see if anyone lived in Arizona, not expecting to find much.

First time seeing @OrbitModel metrics in a pitch deck 🤓

I've been pondering over the @OrbitModel of community a bit over the past few days. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth the read.

Some reflections...

Spreadsheets for everything❓

For growing communities, it can become difficult to scale Google Sheets for tracking #DevRel metrics.

Follow along with this article by @harshil1712 to learn how you can move your #community metrics to @OrbitModel.

Communities are becoming more and more important.

It's apparent in social/consumer: see @tobyshorin's essay

But also for developers: see @OrbitModel and GitHub Discussions (both of which Athens just got access to!)

huge proponent of the concept of "personal CRMs" to manage your network, clever use of the concept from the @OrbitModel folks to keep tabs on VCs :) orbit.love/blog/my-data-c…

Orbit is the tool I wish I had at @Docker, glad we found it @strapijs ❤️

Very impressed by the recent progress made by the @OrbitModel team! Congrats @patrickjwoods @Phacks @dzello

Excited to see how they will use the funding to improve the product and build new integrations!

🦃 Feeling the gratefulness vibrations this week and wanted to share our gratitude for @OrbitModel - You make all of our #DevRel reporting such a pleasure. We appreciate you!

And explaining the engagement and how it changes to internal teams is important, too. Getting details from tools like @OrbitModel is helpful, but even more helpful is interpreting these data to tell a compelling story internally. People get excited over that kind of thing. 3/

Everyone asks me about building #opensource developer communities.

I start by asking them how they define success. @OrbitModel helps you build a picture of that for your company and product.

Video chat in ~10min if you want to learn more.

The sales / marketing funnel goes all the way back to 1898. A linear process, and binary.

For community, this isn't a fit. @OrbitModel comes up with new mental model.

the model Orbit talks about (granted for developers, but I think this can translate to other types of communities) has an interesting framing I hadn't seen elsewhere @OrbitModel: orbit.love/blog/why-orbit…

4/ If you're putting together the building blocks for your own community, consider how different platforms might impact your engagement. Some great resources here from @patrickjwoods @OrbitModel: orbit.love/blog/slack-vs-…; orbit.love/blog/how-to-mi…
