Cardano is like polkadot - its the center of many sidechains. It was always the plan. If you're a developer and want different parameters, you want your own sidechain.
It’s not a sidechain. They’d have a separate environment for the Cardano network if it were. So ask those in the pioneers program what they learn about Cardano and midnight
And what happened to the Cardano sidechain SDK? Has that joined the list of things that never get spoken of ever again?
I am not sure I am convinced it's the same thing. A sidechain is the same network. Meaning, a sidechain of cardano IS cardano. What work is cardano offloading to Midnight? Seems like any L1 could be a "partnerchain". What am I missing? And the new name deflates cardano's position
Seeing as how the sidechain is being built with substrate (something else people have doubted me on for a while now) doubt there will be a Cardano sidechain SDK.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, Midnight CEO is from Parity.

I like how we already have EVM compatibility with Milkomeda. WMT sidechain being a bridge into the Cosmos ecosystem and now Midnight giving us access to the Polkadot ecosystem. Solana sidechain up next please 🙏
And now you have Charles going to be spending time and energy on midnight, which isn’t a side chain, but a related ‘partner’ chain, with its on token. That means less time to spend on cardano, and a new token means dispersing value that could have been contained on cardano
It sounds like Midnight is the Hub as Midnight is the chain that will partner directly with many chains?
Cardano will be the central HUB.
A user can potentially only interact with one partner chain but most will inevitably end up bridging and interacting with Cardano and other partners.

Well a specific pallet will have to be implemented by IOG or there's really no concept "partner-chain" when this:
Dapp <- EVM <- Substrate <- Ethereum

There's no IOG built framework at all? they just tell you to go to substrate.io and go look at the details there?

What I want is a clear statement that SPO's will always be needed for the security of a sidechain (unless they hardfork). And that therefore ADA staked will always be necessary for a partner chain security. Not that they are just one more piece of the security of a competing l1.

My understanding of this and I could be wrong so please correct me someone if I am.
The partner chains like Midnight will be using the Cardano settle layer (CSL).
This means the SPOs are being paid by the partner chains to run their security in DUST or whatever else however the SPOs must use ADA to settle on the CSL.
ADA is still relevant in all this!
Wow, now even @Cardano is building on top of @Polkadot SDK by using substrate. Wasn't too long ago a founder of Polygon left to build @AvailProject on Polkadot SDK and now Cardano. Pretty soon all blockchains will be leveraging $dot ecosystem in some fashion!
