I write & share about what I learnt as it amplifies my learning.

I came across the Product Book Club created by Product leader Karthi Subbaraman. Club's goal of completing 52 books in 52 weeks as a community.

I made a social commitment to share key takeaways from the book I complete.

Here are key takeaways from the book “THE MOM TEST” by Rob Fitzpatrick, first in the series.

My network knows my love to read and the continuous selling about the habit. There are two questions where I struggle to answer. #1 How do you read non-fiction? & #2 How do remember the key learnings from the book? Solution for first is forming a habit and creating a social commitment. I didn't know answer for the second one until I found the Product Book Club created by Product leader and Curious Karthi Subbaraman.

PBC has an audacious goal of completing 52 books in 52 weeks as a community. I promised myself to review the books I complete. This is a social commitment for the same.

Here is my first book review for The Mom's test. Do read and share your feedback. You can follow me to have a peek on the product books I am going to review.

" You aren't allowed to tell them (the customer) what their problem is, and in return they aren't allowed to tell you (PM) what to build. They own the problem, you own the solution".

I came across the aforementioned phrase in a book named " The Mom's Test". It's a wonderful read in which the author has tried to articulate the importance of digging deep while interacting with customers and at the same time the author inculcates on not to be carried out by fluffs, opinions and appreciations while discussing your product.

The reason behind starting this book and going deep into product is because of me joining Product Book Club. I am ecstatic about being part of this club where I am joining 800 folks with whom I will be taking the challenge of reading 52 product books in 52 weeks, "The Mom's Test" being the first among them. At the end of every week we will be reviewing the books, learn from each other, discuss different product roadmaps, debate on certain products, etc. & etc...

Long story short, I am excited to be part of this erudite community and I am looking forward to learning. I will also be sharing my learnings with my LinkedIn community, maybe someone might find it useful.

I wasn’t very good with reading, then I got hooked into some books, format changed to audio books. Today a lot of what I do is because of the reading I did in the past, a lot of dots in the memory and can connect them as and when required.

Last few years I didn’t read as much as I want and as much as I should.

Planning to change that with 52 week challenge with Product Book Club. Thanks Karthi Subbaraman and Madhuri Maram and everyone else behind the project.

The Mom Test: How to Talk to Customers and Learn If Your Business is a Good Idea when Everyone is Lying to You - one of the first books I read in product development.

Happened to meet Rob Fitzpatrick while he was giving us a presentation at Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC), got a signed book as well from him. It was a pretty cool presentation as well.

I always loved reading..Over the period of my career, I have realised that I should retain the knowledge by creating an artifact for every good book..So I was looking for a better idea to articulate and a group to keep me motivated.. When you desire something deeply, Universe helps you..I found Karthi Subbaraman and Product Book Club..She helped me with 10*30 concept of Book Review and added me to an enthusiastic team of Product Managers around the world..!.
